The Poinsettia Bowl is the most exciting game tonight in my mind, but then I’m a bowl junkie. While tonight’s NFL game isn’t as exciting, it is an interesting puzzle:
Pittsburgh (-7.5) at St. Louis – Normally, I would love to find a way to pick against the Steelers. They are playing poorly in recent weeks and I haven’t had a lot of faith in them all year. NFL three-play

There are more NFL games this weekend than we have seen since before the bye weeks started, yet there are only three that strike my fancy. I am intrigued by Buffalo and their mountain of points at home, but I can’t convince myself to pull the trigger on it.
New York Giants (-3) at Detroit – I know I said I was done with betting on the Lions, but I just can’t quit them. I don’t trust the Giants at all, and Detroit has been great at home, So the value lies in the Lions and the points. Pick: Detroit.

Wednesday quick hits

Here’s some of today’s news that I am storing away in my brain because it may be useful down the road as I am making a pick:

Marc Bulger has been benched to recover from injuries including broken ribs sustained because his line couldn’t stop my three year old cousin. He’s being replaced by Gus Frerotte. I had no idea that Frerotte was still alive. Bulger will likely be backup because the only other QB the team has is Brock Berlin, and he’s on the practice roster.
