Tuesday’s links to love

Here’s a collection of some interesting sports betting-related links in the cyber world today:

  •  I normally don’t pay too much attention to injury reports, but I will be watching the one from the Chargers very closely this week. It could go one of two ways – either the injuries to key players will be serious and the team will be doomed, or they won’t be as bad as people will think and the Chargers will have some value. Either way it will be interesting.
  • Tennis faces another gambling problem. It’s getting very ugly for the sport.
  • Midnight Lute had the best training time of the day at Santa Anita on Monday (fired a bullet in track-speak). Add that to his likely Eclipse award and the public affection, and we are looking at a majorly overbet favorite in his season debut next Sunday in the Palos Verdes.
  • Now for a bit of shameless self promotion – this is an article I wrote last week that was interesting. It compared NBA offensive and defensive stats to against the spread performance of teams. In a nutshell, the best indicator of betting success is defensive capability – the fewer points you allow the better you generally are against the spread, while rebounding, blocks and steals have very little relation to betting success.
