Kentucky (-1) vs. Florida State (Monday, Dec. 31, 4:00 p.m. ET) – Tough game between two flawed teams. In the end I think Kentucky has the edge in a game that is essentially a pick ‘em. Three reasons – Kentucky can score more points than Florida State and I don’t think the Seminoles can keep up in a shootout; Kentucky will be more motivated because it is the end of the line for this offense thanks to the graduation …read more

South Florida (-6.5) vs. Oregon (Monday, Dec. 31, 2:00 p.m. ET) – I wish we could have seen this game with Oregon at their best. They obviously aren’t, though. The quarterbacking is a mess, and the confidence is shot. I am going to make the unapologetically public pick and take South Florida. They closed strong after faltering, and they have their potent offense intact for this matchup. They will be motivated to finish their fine season strong. Oregon will …read more

Colorado (+3.5) vs. Alabama (Sunday, Dec. 30, 8:00 p.m. ET) – Maybe it is because I hate Nick Saban, but I like Colorado here. Dan Hawkins has this team playing with heart and hunger. Alabama isn’t. Colorado can score a pile if they want to, and I am not sure that Alabama can keep up. This game means more for a rebuilding Colorado than it does for an arrogant and bloated Alabama team. Pick: Colorado.

Penn State (-5) vs. Texas A&M (Saturday, Dec. 29, 8:00 p.m. ET) – If you have followed my picks you will notice that I have not been picking the Big Ten. I watch a lot of their games, so there is a good reason for that – they suck. I would love to pick against the conference here, but I just can’t do it. Texas A&M is yet another team with a coaching mess. They will have practically a …read more

Central Florida (-3) vs. Mississippi State (Saturday, Dec. 29, 4:30 p.m) – It’s a big jump up in class for Central Florida from the top of Conference USA to the middle of the SEC, but I like their chances. Mississippi State has put up some big games, but they aren’t consistent and they only have an average run defense. Central Florida can run all day, and I look for them to control the game on the ground and turn …read more

Wake Forest (-3) vs. Connecticut (Saturday, Dec. 29, 1:00 p.m. ET) – This is the toughest game so far. If it weren’t for the last three weeks of the year I would like UConn for sure. They were pitiful against West Virginia and Cincinnati, though. In the end I think that I will go with Wake Forest because of that and other reasons – Wake Forest has more recent bowl experience, they are a more consistent offense, and they …read more

Oregon State (-4.5) vs. Maryland (Friday, Dec. 28, 8:30 p.m. ET) – I don’t really like either of these teams, but I like Oregon State much more than Maryland. Even though they didn’t really beat anyone they still won six of their last seven. Maryland struggled badly down the stretch, and they make enough mistakes to make anyone cry. Oregon State will have a big cheering section, because San Francisco is much closer to Oregon than Maryland. Pick: Oregon …read more

TCU (-4) vs. Houston (Friday, Dec. 28, 8:00 p.m.) – A lot of teams are going throw coaching changes prior to their bowl, but Houston’s is messier and more distracting than most. I think that TCU is a better team than they have shown for much of this year, and I am not willing to quit on them just yet. If both teams play their best game I think TCU wins by at least a touchdown. Pick: TCU.

Boston College (-3) vs. Michigan State (Friday, Dec. 28, 5:30 p.m. ET) – Call me a chalk eater if you want, but I really like the favorite here. Both teams had troubles down the stretch, and Boston College definitely isn’t in the bowl game they wanted to be in. The game comes down to class, though. Boston College is a better team with better players and better coaching. Despite their struggles they should be able to win with an …read more

Texas (-1.5) vs. Arizona State (Thursday, Dec. 27, 8:00 p.m. ET) – This is a matchup between two teams that disappointed down the stretch. I like a lot of what both teams do, and I think Dennis Erickson has done amazing things withe the Sun Devils, but I have to go with Texas. They are a much more experienced team, and they are a stronger team on paper. They have lots of bowl success, and should come out ahead at …read more
