Tuesday quick hits
- There should be a brief period of calm, but it is going to be very interesting to watch how the Yankees act this offseason. I expect it to be dramatic. Out with the A-Rod and in with the pitchers who can actually get an out would be a good place to start. Betting on this team is going to be a very different proposition next year.
- The public is overwhelmingly(87% of bets) on the Patriots in their game against the Cowboys on Sunday. I wonder what the bet split would have been if Dallas hadn’t have had such a rough Monday night? If you believe in mulligans then this could be value for Dallas.
- Matt Leinart is out for the season and Tim Rattay was signed as backup in Arizona. So much for that two quarterback system that was working so well. If Kurt Warner were to get hurt in the next couple of weeks it could get ugly. With him, though, I think the offense is actually more attractive than it was before.
- Jake Delhomme has opted for season ending surgery, and David Carr has a sore back. Speaking of ugly situations.
- Interesting move by Boston to use the break between series to switch their rotation around. Dice-K is now third and Curt Schilling moves up to second. It gives the Japanese rookie a much softer match up (Westbrook instead of Carmona), and puts Schilling in the power spot that’s good for his ego. I still think Boston has a pitching edge, but the gap is narrower now.
- Not to blatantly self-promote, but here’s a weekly column I write that I like doing.
